AI Legal Systems

AI applications in legal and judicial systems

In line with European policies:

AI is   being used by lawyers and judges for legal activities , such as assisting with a client’s defence or resolving a case.

However, there are no tools validated by the European Union available for such use.

Recent cases have shown that the use of artificial intelligence systems can lead users — such as judges, lawyers and public officials — to become excessively reliant on them.t is therefore necessary to provide training in the use of these systems, alongside the introduction of a certification scheme and corresponding instructions for use.

At the same time, it is crucial to strike a balance between obtaining high-quality data and minimising risks to personal data.

This poses further challenges where different regulatory frameworks intersect.
